For this blog post I chose vector artist
Petros Afshar. He was born and raised in
London, England, and had a love for gardening. He also liked to work with music
production in his spare time. So how exactly did he get into vector art? He
said in an interview that “Vector art was something I primarily got into since the advent
of being taught how to use Illustrator at university. Before then, I wouldn’t
use anything but Photoshop.”
Petros
has a very unique style to his art, and it was kind of hard for me to find a
lot of meaning to his pieces. This is because, while his art is very good, It doesn’t
seem like he does it at much for meaning as he does for fun. Obviously he doesn’t
do this just because it’s “fun” but I still had a hard time finding a lot of
meaning in any one of his pieces.
That
being said, personally, I still really like his art. The style he has is very
simplistic and cartoony, but gives a really cool feel to his art as a whole. It
almost makes you feel like you’re in a different world when looking at his art.
My only critique is that he could maybe make the meaning behind his work a
little clearer. Sometimes artist don’t have to have a meaning, and that may be
the case with him, but I still found it hard to find any true meaning behind
his art.
