Project 3 Progress! Stop motion angles

It's hard to show my progress on the stop motion without actually putting together a sample, so these are different angles that I am shooting the stop motion at.

Life=Game

For this reading, I decided to analyze the Life=Game section. This was a very interesting section to read because a lot of it was true. Both games involve entering a virtual world where you can basically live your fantasy life in a "realistic" sort of way. I think it's very interesting that people these days invest more time into their virtual lives than they do their real ones. This section also got me thinking about if I have ever done this, and if so, why. I have actually played Sims before (never on a serious level), but never really understood the thrill of the game. I think the fact that so many people enjoy games like this, is because it basically makes life easy. It makes things that we cant normally obtain in real life, easy to obtain. You can also interact with other people online, which give these types of games an even more realistic feel. I personally don't find these games very appealing, but I do see them rising in popularity, and question if this is the direction that the gaming industry is heading in.

Project 2: Final Product

Vector Artist: Petros Afshar

For this blog post I chose vector artist Petros Afshar.  He was born and raised in London, England, and had a love for gardening. He also liked to work with music production in his spare time. So how exactly did he get into vector art? He said in an interview that “Vector art was something I primarily got into since the advent of being taught how to use Illustrator at university. Before then, I wouldn’t use anything but Photoshop.”

Petros has a very unique style to his art, and it was kind of hard for me to find a lot of meaning to his pieces. This is because, while his art is very good, It doesn’t seem like he does it at much for meaning as he does for fun. Obviously he doesn’t do this just because it’s “fun” but I still had a hard time finding a lot of meaning in any one of his pieces.

That being said, personally, I still really like his art. The style he has is very simplistic and cartoony, but gives a really cool feel to his art as a whole. It almost makes you feel like you’re in a different world when looking at his art. My only critique is that he could maybe make the meaning behind his work a little clearer. Sometimes artist don’t have to have a meaning, and that may be the case with him, but I still found it hard to find any true meaning behind his art.
